How we work
The Susquehanna Valley Foundation is a platform for people who care about their community and want to do something about it. SVF isn’t backed by huge financiers or a national network of volunteers. We’re looking to the everyday people who have ideas but don’t know where to start; maybe it’s someone who can’t find anyone else that cares about a certain cause; perhaps it’s just someone who wants to help their community but doesn’t know how. Regardless of the reason, SVF is a resource for those who want to be a part of local change for local people.
Host fundraising events that are fun, memorable, inviting, and effective
Raise awareness for issues important to the community
Build partnerships with other organizations to expand reach and effectiveness
“The best part of Toss For Troops is getting together with friends to celebrate a good cause and then being able to talk with the veterans and hearing their stories.”

Toss For Troops
Each year we host a fundraiser called Toss For Troops (T4T) that has raised nearly $20,000 for Pennsylvania Veterans. T4T is a corn hole tournament and tasting event held around Veteran’s Day each year. It is an opportunity for people to come out and have a good time while raising money for an important cause. The proceeds go directly to the Pennsylvania Veteran’s Foundation, which helps struggling veterans in crisis. The Pennsylvania Veteran’s Foundation (PVF), dedicates each day to PA Vets. Whatever assistance they need, PVF gets it to them. We believe in their compassion and effectiveness and that is why we donate all proceeds to them every year.
This event has been a huge success and continues to grow in turnout and sponsors each year. Going forward, we will be adding to the “T4T” umbrella of events in 2019 with “Trot For Troops”. Trot For Troops will be 5k walk/run along the historic Columbia River Trail on the same day as Toss For Troops. Between the two events, our goal for next year is to raise $20,000 for PA Veterans.
